The Position. Bercon Rentals Inc. is offering an excellent opportunity for a full-time permanent Accounting Associate – Accounts Receivable reporting to the Assistant Controller who is ready to grow their career with the leading company in the industry. Your primary objective will be to provide support to the Accounting, Rentals and Sales departments.

 

Main duties of the position include (but are not limited to):

  • Perform accounts receivable collections and apply customer payments
  • Prepare customer invoice summaries
  • Reviews and evaluates customer credit applications and supporting documentation, making recommendations regarding credit eligibility/limits
  • Liaises with customers to obtain certificate of insurance
  • Enforces credit terms by monitoring and evaluating payment performance/credit status of existing customers
  • Establishes and maintains positive relationships with customers to support the collection and resolution process of outstanding receivables
  • Follows up with customers to ensure timely repayment of account balances
  • Collaborates with Account Managers and Inside Sales Representatives and customers to resolve outstanding account balances by negotiating repayment terms
  • Recommends and implements corrective actions for delinquent accounts:  credit holds, COD, etc.
  • Communicates changes to account status to customers, Account Managers and Inside Sales Representatives
  • Recommends legal action for delinquent accounts, preparing supporting documentation as required
  • Analyzes aging reports to identify areas of opportunity and risk exposure
  • Provides regular updates on receivables aging, status of customer accounts to Controller and Assistant Controller
  • Evaluates credit policies and procedures on an ongoing basis, in order to: ensure accuracy of data, monitor compliance with internal control procedure, and identify areas for improvement
  • Provide support to other accounting functions as required
  • Prepare other ad hoc reports as required
  • Performs other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications or Skills Required:

  • Post-secondary diploma in Accounting or a related field
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a similar role
  • Solid MS Office skills:  Word, Excel, Outlook
  • Excellent oral and written communication
  • Thorough understanding of accounting procedures and practices
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills; able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong customer focus
  • Proactive, positive, self-starting attitude
  • Strong attention to detail; able to produce an accurate, thorough work product
  • Sound judgment and discretion in handling confidential matters
